To be honest, I love this genre; not specifically movies about haunted houses but about researchers who investigate haunted houses. That, combined with The Conjuring coming from James Wan, director of Saw and Insidious, made that I couldn't wait to see it. And I haven't been disappointed at all.

James Wan has proved in the last years to be a efficient, sometimes even masterful, director, with a special instinct for powerful screeplays. And he also demostrated with Insidious that it was possible to make a solid classic movie about the paranormal, that kept a grip over the watcher's attention, without making anothe rmockumentary. That's why this story, about paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren, that combines The Amityville Horror with Poltergeist, was perfect for him.

Again, technically the movie looks great, direction is perfect, and the only weak point would be that we have already seen almost all resources used in the movie (although the quality of The Conjuring makes everything enjoyable).

The Conjuring is a good movie, maybe not a great one, but an absolute must-see for lovers of haunted houses.
