If you have seen the movie "Milk" (2008) [imdb] based on the true story of the first openly gay politician in the US, maybe you would like to discover the documentary "The Times of Harvey Milk" (1984) [imdb].
Always listed among the one hundred best documentaries of all time, "The Times..." depicts not only the the character but as, its title remarks, also the period.
The documentary is an outstanstanding sample of dramatization via edition, but fails to explain the reasons, or better to say, the emotions that led Dan White to killing Major George Moscone and Harvey Milk. At this point, the movie shows to be even better than the documentary.
